Official ABR and ASIC data now gives Lucid a stronger way to understand which organisation a piece of intelligence actually refers to.
A few days ago, we introduced Global Events, expanding Lucid’s view of what is happening around the world.
Now we’re strengthening the layer underneath it: identity.
Australian Business Entities gives Lucid a way to resolve organisations using public data from the Australian Business Register / ABN Lookup and ASIC’s open register data, including ABNs, ACNs, official names, business names and historical company names.
That means records arriving from different parts of Lucid can increasingly converge around the same underlying organisation.
A company mentioned in news, a GDELT event, an ASIC record, an ACCC development or a Signal no longer has to remain an isolated string.
Built for intelligence, not another directory
During development, Lucid processed approximately 28.3 million official-source records to validate the architecture.
Rather than keeping the entire national register permanently hot, we designed a smaller strategic identity core containing around 222,000 organisations and 312,000 official-source observations, with broader resolution available as organisations become relevant.
The result is a much more efficient identity layer without sacrificing the evidence behind it.
Official identifiers take precedence. Names and aliases provide supporting context. Ambiguous matches remain unresolved rather than being quietly guessed.
Why it matters
The real value is not another dataset.
It is that everything else in Lucid can become more coherent.
Ask:
What has changed around this company?
and Lucid can increasingly begin from a persistent organisation, then investigate the regulatory activity, news, events and monitored intelligence associated with it.
For Signals, that creates a path towards monitoring the organisation itself rather than maintaining a collection of keywords and spelling variations.
Global Events helps Lucid understand more of what is happening.
Australian Business Entities gives it a stronger foundation for understanding who it is happening to.
More connected intelligence is coming.
